As we approach the last few weeks of the summer holidays, the kids and maybe even yourself, may be running out of ideas to keep them entertained in the garden. Now is the time to change this. Here are a few ideas to get you thinking of how to bring the fun back into summer.
We all know kids love putting their feet up and watching a good animation film. But why not take that experience to a new level with an Outdoor Cinema. The easiest way to do this is to peg a white sheet to your washing line. You may want to weigh it down at the bottom so that it doesn’t move around in the breeze. It is then just a case of connecting up a projector to a laptop / tablet and sharing a box of popcorn.
While you are maintaining those raised flower beds why not get the kids involved through the creation of their own mini garden. All you will need is a planting pot and a few small plants and flowers. Let them be adventurous and use their imagination. Who knows even the fairies could move in overnight.
Create a blackboard for the garden with a sheet of MDF (Medium-density fibreboard) and Blackboard paint. This simple garden addition will open options for hours of fun, from drawing pictures to playing school, you could even get them to write your shopping list down for you while you enjoy a cup of tea/coffee.
We all know that it is hard to encourage our children to sit down and do a bit of reading while they are off on their holidays….but bring that “chore” outside and it becomes a whole new outlook on the idea. Create an inviting reading nook for you and your little ones to get lost in a world of adventure.
